-yesterday was extremely fun organizing the 30 sec drawing workshop with 98B, actually its more like an experiment. What 22 people can come up with within 30 seconds with pen/markers and paper, i think i mention to the participants that if you concentrate hard you can have an eternity in 1 second lol >.<',
But what i like about it was the participation. Everyone was 101% paying attention to most instructions on what to draw for 30 seconds which consists of 30 lists. I'm happy to see all of them laughing and comparing at each others drawings its feel like a kindergarten teacher because the participants even though grown up they look like children totally immersed with the activity. Everyone can interpret 1 thing into may different things and within 30 second can bring out the Picasso in them. Some drawings can even be turn into logo design, simple and catchy. In the list to draw, its not just a simple subject as well, what i told them to draw is a metaphor of the world we are living now. But mostly fun to interpret in many, many type of style....its the happiness that i see in them that made me happy, i feel like i'm not just bring out the Picasso in them but also the innocent child within them. The whole room feels like a kindergarten classroom where everyone's totally tuned in while rocking the pencil to 30 seconds-ish punrock songs. It was really, really, fun. The feedback i get as well was they had a lot of fun doing it. I forget to tell them they actually can exercise this at home as well and i forgot to give them the lists of the songs. Fun like a Hor Fun. Can't wait to do it in Japan and malaisea. This is the description from one of the partipants: "a topic is given - some time given to think about it - then Sheiko counts 1,2,3, go and a punk song lasting 30 seconds play - by the end of the song pens are put down.
Somewhat similar to party games like stop dancing and trip to Jerusalem :) "
30 sec drawing - Because past is dead and future's far ahead, lets rock the pencil in 30 seconds, 1234!
-Thoughts on artists in Malaysia or South East Asia. Art/drawings/illustrations style not consistent but adaptable to many style. Is it because of survival? Often client ask to imitate other artists style from US or Europe, while artists from there might have the financial support from government so they don't have to work for people from advertising who often ask artist/illustrators to imitate other artists which is sometimes quite offensive for the artist and artists from Europe/US don't need to try hard to please client from advertising agencies.
-Drawing is the first self-expression of being human besides crying, laughing, when we're young. We draw because human have eyes. Like mouth who consume food then we poop, For eyes i think its quite the same, we consume but we seldom empty the eyes bowels. An i think its healthy to let it out and feel good because drawing is very therapeutic and a person should do it often to get the hang of it.
Imagine learn how to draw is like learn how to cycle. After you get the hang of it, it will bring you very far to unimaginable places.
-Thoughts on healthy society
Not sure if its right to compare but even here in Catholic country, not many actually indoctrinated
by religious dogma. Many still have the capability of freethinking. Most people here accepted LGBTIQ people openly. LGBTIQ people can openly express themselves without fear on the streets in the public. In a way even society here subscribe or conform to religious ideology they don't have Black and White thinking as in many still can accept LGBT people in their family and in society.
And many can think freely evidently in the environment and surroundings. I find people who build their own Jeep or cars and other hand-made structure very interesting, there's human touch all around. Another probablity is because of economic situation. Where there are some sorts of understanding among the people here, the everyday struggle. Like i was told before, over here you can be poor and happy. Neighbours and friends can feed you and you're part of the big family. I mean if to compare to Malaysia people or society still playing along the rules and within boundries and sadly human touch and craft by hand objects and items are much lesser or almost non-existant.
-If you judge a book by its cover and take everything at face value you're already cheated for life.
-malaisea gov criminalize transgender people, the more they perpetuate the cycle, the younger transgenders will also continuosly go into the old cycle of sex-work,
